Half Home

about

This song is about being young and in a transitionary stage of life. When I wrote the track I was constantly alone and on the road, floating from recording sessions to rehearsals, and crashing in my car between gigs. Writing this song helped me embrace living in a state of change.

lyrics

I’m driving on albion going bout
one ten wearing my coca cola shirt again
sleeping same clothes waking half home
now I’m on the road driving to the couch
of an old friend
I call on the phone just to reach a busy tone
I call on the phone and hope that somebody’s home

I’m calling just a little bit older, a little bit bolder
And still I’ve got nothing to say
I’m calling just a little bit older, a little bit bolder
And still I’ve got nothing to say
I’m calling just a little bit colder, needing a shoulder
To help get me through the day
I’m afraid, I’m the same girl as yesterday

I’m visiting family casually soaking up sun
having fun on my last resort
Days going fast just floating past
Not making tracks just tracking miles on my dashboard
I call on the phone just to reach a busy tone
I call on the phone just to feel like I’m not alone

I’m calling just a little bit older, a little bit bolder
And still I’ve got nothing to say
I’m calling just a little bit older, a little bit bolder
And still I’ve got nothing to say
I’m calling just a little bit colder, needing a shoulder
To help get me through the day
I’m afraid, I’m the same girl as yesterday

Backtrack
With a breeze on my face
Feeling kinda glad
I’m alone in this place
Yeah I need a hand
But I’ll see you someday
I’ll see you someday
moving through space just to feel okay
staying on the road just finding my way
moving through space just to get away`
to get away

I’m calling just a little bit older, a little bit bolder
And still I’ve got nothing to say
I’m calling just a little bit older, a little bit bolder
And still I’ve got nothing to say
I’m calling just a little bit colder, needing a shoulder
To help get me through the day
I’m afraid, I’m the same girl as yesterday
